How to Hang Curtains Correctly

When curtains are hung correctly the room looks larger and allows more natural light.  The higher the hardware, the higher the ceilings will seem.  The eye is drawn up and it gives an overall more expansive feel to the room.

There is a very interesting article in the New York Times.  As the daughter of small business owners and a lifelong supporter of "mom and pop" shops, the fact that individual artisans, carpenters, upholsterers, painters and other creative types are supported by decorators who utilize their talents is a great point to remember.

Privet House for Target

Sometimes it pays to make a discovery late in the game.  Although I was intrigued by The Shops at Target, it's such a busy time of year I forgot about them.  Then Privet House was mentioned on a blog and I went to check out their items.  Everything left was on clearance--hooray!

 This watering can makes a great vase for my hydrangeas.

 This lantern and large candle are charming.

 They were nice additions to a simple summer tablescape.

Framed wallpaper panels

Framing a favorite wallpaper is a great way to enhance a space without the commitment or expense of covering an entire wall(s).  There is a large space to which I'm considering adding wallpaper panels, these photos provide beautiful inspiration.
