Brooke Astor Auction at Sotheby's

A few days ago, I headed to the Upper East Side to see the contents of the Brooke Astor auction at Sotheby's.  The proceeds will benefit the charities she supported during her lifetime.  She lived to be 105 years old and I remember reading that one of her secrets to longevity was having friends of all different ages and being open to making new ones at all times.  Good advice.
The contents are from her New York apartment and her Holly Hill estate.  There was lots of sterling silver, art, furniture and Chinoiserie items.  Everything was arranged as it was in her homes.  The auction takes place September 24-25 at Sotheby's in New York City, for more details click here.

Oh, how fabulous! Those tall bookshelves were divine, and I loved the twin cheetah print footstools. How lucky to see all that Chinoiserie in person. :)

Ohhhh, let me know what you learn. When we were in Hong Kong I saw them everywhere and had to have a pair. We looked high and low for the right ones at the right price. :D
