Bathroom Love

Jeffrey Alan Marks has one of my favorite bathrooms in his house.  This layout is so clever with the double sink vanity divided by the mirror.  Those using the sinks are actually facing each other on opposite sides of the mirror.  The table, lantern and winged back chair are fab! And what a great soaking tub.  The room is both fresh and practical.  Love it!

Lonny

The January/February 2013 issue of Lonny Magazine is one of the best yet.  Jessica Goranson's apartment is so stylish and inviting it definitely stood out and there's much, much more in the issue.  Enjoy!

A charming country home in Brooklyn

In the new issue of Vogue, the charming home of Miranda Brooks and Bastien Halard has been featured.  It's amazing to me that this is in Brooklyn and not the French countryside.  Lovely!

 Halard embarked on the renovation while working for architect Peter Marino, sneaking out at lunchtime to chaperone the contractors. He preserved the staircase and happily exposed the joists. Everything else was redone and brought in, much of it found at antiques fairs upstate but made to look like it had been there forever—from the vintage escutcheons scavenged at Manhattan’s Olde Good Things to the many reclaimed doors they’re affixed to. “It wasn’t about an architectural statement, really. It was more about being clever, just finding a bit of charm. And Miranda did all the colors,” explains Halard, surrounded by walls painted his wife’s favorite hue: Fenching Blue from Papers and Paints in London.

 These floors are so French and I love the herringbone pattern.

Million Dollar Decorators

This season, I got hooked on Bravo's Million Dollar Decorators.  They are talented, likable and funny! It's great to see them interact with clients, friends and deal with all the issues that come up in a design project.  Each has a very different design aesthetic and it's so interesting to see what they come up with~I'm sorry the season is over.

Design Sponge City Guides

Although this isn't really about design, I have to say the Design Sponge City Guides are excellent.   Today's post on Bloomington, Indiana caught my eye. Indiana is my home state and I lived in Bloomington many years ago for about six months to get an office up and running before returning to Washington, DC.  It really is a great place full of culture, restaurants, shopping, outdoor activities, rolling hills and of course, Indiana University, all in a small town package.  One of my daily stops was The Runcible Spoon to pick up my morning coffee.  It was fun to see it made the guide and is still thriving. If you're planning a trip anytime soon, they are worth a quick read before your departure.
