High Street Market

Yesterday, the owner of High Street Market (Kelly Galvin Robson) announced she is taking her shop beyond the world of etsy.  It will be a comprehensive online store including new and vintage furnishings called High Street Market Home.  Some early photos were posted and I fell in love with this lamp.  My living room is calling out for it!  From the black shade to the exaggerated bamboo shape to the crackle finish, it's perfection in my book.  Looking forward to the full launch in November.  Bravo Kelly!

Design*Sponge at west elm book signing

As a daily reader of Design*Sponge, it was fun to be able to attend one of Grace Bonney's book signings.  It would have been great to attend the craft workshop as well but it sold out very quickly.  She is low-key and very nice.  It made my day to be able to chat with her for a bit.

Society Social

Society Social was started by a woman who left corporate life to pursue her dreams.  Don't you just love those stories?  The result is a darling website with these terrific bar carts (that come in lots of different colors,) chairs and other furniture as well as a Manifesto Magalog which is full of the products, entertaining ideas and other articles.  I've got my eye on one of the bar carts (I still want one for our dining room) and would love a set of her chairs around a new kitchen table.  Enjoy!

Leah Ball Steen

Leah Ball Steen lives in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood and owns Revival Home + Garden.  Her home was featured in the latest issue of Rue Magazine.  She uses lots of bold color but what I love most is her fearless mix of pattern!  Though I'm not a fan of the artwork she chose in her entry hall, I love the table, chairs, books, mix of Chinese porcelain and those lampshades!

The details in this room that caught my eye are the ceiling color, gallery wall, beautiful back splash tile and my favorite--the print fabric on the back of the sofa + the mix of pillows.  It's so warm and inviting.  Makes me want to go back to Seattle so I can visit her shop. :D

Bee Cottage

Okay, this is a great makeover.  A cottage is my dream and I've always loved the honeybee motif.  It was even my stationery studio's logo.  Yesterday, Nate Berkus (who I love) had Frances Schultz on his show and some images of her cottage in East Hampton were shown.  She embraced the shortcomings, quirks and charm to make it a cozy retreat.  Enjoy!

 A yellow and blue palette is very welcoming and cheerful.

The pattern in this room is a perfect mix of scale and color.  Very pleasing and restful.  And the high gloss ceiling is wonderful!  She mentions how you're really only supposed to use high gloss on perfect walls (which is why I've never used it) but she disagrees and uses it anyway (ooh, maybe I will too.)
