House Beautiful's Kitchen of the Year 2010

Right now at Rockefeller Center in New York City the Kitchen of the Year by Flipping Out star Jeff Lewis is on display.  It's very streamlined and contemporary but welcoming at the same time.  I love the big island for cooking or entertaining friends with drinks and hors d'oeuvres.  Tomorrow I pick up my dear friend at the airport, I hope she's ready to head into the city and check this out with me. :)  By the way, looking forward to the new season of Flipping Out on August 10th.

American Fashion Designers At Home

This book comes out in September and I am really looking forward to its release. American Fashion Designers at Home offers an intimate look into the private quarters of more than 100 members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America—including Diane von Furstenburg, Cynthia Rowley, Kate Spade, Bob Mackie, Johnson Hartig, and Derek Lam—and offers a stunning photographic tour of the domestic side of fashion.  Rima Suqi is a writer, stylist and photographer based in New York City. She has held staff positions at Metropolitan Home magazine, and written for New YorkMagazine (where she was Best Bets editor) Elle Decor, Departures, Town & Country, In Style, and The New York Times. American Fashion Designers at Home is her fourth book.

Hermès wish list

As I was catching up on blogs this morning, I saw a tray table very similar to this one in someone's sitting room.  It looked wonderful!  At some point, I want to recover my living room love seats in a neutral and this would be a great piece for the space.  They seem to be hard to come by and I have no idea what they would cost.
And of course a blanket in the iconic orange--these look so great on the end of a bed or the back of a chair or sofa.  Sigh.

House Beautiful

The latest issue of House Beautiful is wonderful and I can't get enough of this darling Gramercy Park studio apartment! The owner is certainly lucky to live here and she really did it justice by designing such a creative, beautiful space.  It's only 450 square feet.
the fireplace, stripes, topiaries + faux giraffe rug--gorgeous
she made her entry hall into a library--so clever

daybed and screen in neutral toile--very soothing
love this display on an old easel
there's a balcony too!
she sectioned off different areas by the arrangement of the furniture
great use of an oversized mirror
galley kitchen
